Aim Training Routines for CS2: From Beginner to Pro

Published on March 5, 2026

Aim is one of the most important skills in CS2, and like any skill, it requires structured, consistent practice. Whether you are just starting out or looking to break into the professional scene, having a well-designed training routine is essential. This guide provides detailed routines for every skill level.

Beginner Routine (0-3 Months)

As a beginner, your focus should be on building fundamentals. Do not worry about speed — accuracy and consistency come first. Aim for 30-45 minutes of practice before your first match each day.

1. Crosshair Placement (10 minutes)

Load a local server and walk around the map keeping your crosshair at head height at all times. Practice on Dust 2, Mirage, and Inferno. Focus on pre-aiming common angles.

2. Spray Control (10 minutes)

Stand in front of a wall at medium range and practice the first 10 bullets of the AK-47 spray pattern. Repeat until you can consistently group all 10 bullets in a tight cluster. Then extend to 15 and 20 bullets.

3. Flick Practice (10 minutes)

Use the CS2 aim map or workshop maps. Set the target size to large, speed to slow. Focus on smooth, controlled flicks — not raw speed. Accuracy above 80% is your goal.

4. Deathmatch (10-15 minutes)

Play deathmatch with the AK-47 only. Focus on one-taps and burst fire. Do not spray unless the enemy is very close. Your goal is clean kills, not K/D ratio.

Intermediate Routine (3-12 Months)

Once you have the fundamentals down, it is time to increase difficulty and add more game-specific drills. Aim for 45-60 minutes of practice daily.

1. Crosshair Placement with Movement (10 minutes)

Same as beginner, but now practice while counter-strafing. Focus on stopping completely before shooting. Your crosshair should be on the enemy before you even stop moving.

2. Burst Fire & Recovery (10 minutes)

Practice 3-5 round bursts at medium/long range. Focus on resetting between bursts. Time the reset — you should be firing again as soon as accuracy recovers.

3. Multi-target Flicking (10 minutes)

Use workshop maps with multiple targets appearing at different positions. Set target size to medium, speed to medium. Practice transitioning between targets smoothly.

4. Peek Training (10 minutes)

Practice wide peeks, jiggle peeks, and shoulder peeks on a local server. Focus on seeing the enemy first and firing accurately within 0.5 seconds of peeking.

5. Deathmatch with Purpose (10-15 minutes)

Play deathmatch but with specific goals: first 5 minutes pistol only, next 5 minutes AK only, last 5 minutes AWP. Focus on playing angles correctly.

Advanced Routine (12+ Months)

At the advanced level, you should be refining edge cases and pushing your limits. Your routine should be 60-90 minutes and incorporate pressure situations.

1. Micro-adjustments (10 minutes)

Set targets to small size with fast speed. Practice making tiny corrections after your initial flick. This builds the fine motor control needed for headshots at long range.

2. Spray Transfer (10 minutes)

Practice transferring your spray from one target to another while maintaining spray control. This is critical for multi-kill scenarios. Start with 2 targets, then add more.

3. AWP Flick Training (10 minutes)

Practice quick-scoping and flicking with the AWP. Focus on being accurate within 0.3 seconds of seeing the target. AWP reaction drills will improve all weapon classes.

4. Clutch Scenarios (15 minutes)

Set up 1v2 and 1v3 scenarios in a local server with bots. Practice isolating fights, using utility, and staying calm under pressure. Review your mistakes after each attempt.

5. Competitive Deathmatch (15-20 minutes)

Play in FFA deathmatch servers against real players. Focus entirely on your weakest area — if you struggle with pistol rounds, play pistol only. Track your headshot percentage.

6. Retake Practice (10 minutes)

Use retake servers or community retake modes. Focus on trading kills, playing off teammates, and making smart decisions in chaotic situations.

Recommended Workshop Maps

Aim Botz

The most popular aim map. Great for flicking, tracking, and burst practice with customizable settings.

Fast Aim / Reflex

Targets appear around you in 360 degrees. Excellent for raw reflex and reaction training.

Training Aim CSGO 2

Comprehensive training map with multiple modes including tracking, flicking, and target switching.

Prefire Practice

Map-specific prefire practice that teaches you common angles and how to clear them efficiently.

Important Reminder

Quality over quantity. A focused 45-minute session where you actively think about your mistakes is worth more than 3 hours of mindless deathmatch. Track your progress with our Reaction Test and Training Plan Generator.
